Miners sweep weekend
2014-11-25Zach Walsh fired a pair of goals to lead the Glace Bay Junior Miners to a 6-1 win over the Cumberland County Blues in Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League play Sunday at the Bayplex.
Tristan Unsworth and Ryan Bursey each scored and added an assist apiece for the Junior Miners, who improved to 13-5-0-0 for first place in the Sid Rowe Division standings. Kyle Peck and Andrew MacPhee added singles.
Ryan Crowe replied with a power-play goal for the last-place Blues (1-16-0-0).
In goal, Nick Walsh made 18 stops in the win. Tyler Boudreau deflected 48 pucks in the loss.
Saturday at the Bayplex, Scott MacDonald posted the shutout to lead the Junior Miners to a 5-0 win over the Blues.
The New Waterford goalie, who made 14 saves, had a much easier night than Blues goalie Carly Jackson who stopped 59 of the Miners’ 64 shots.
Tyler Pyke, Zach Walsh, Sam Johnson, MacPhee and Lincoln Bradley scored for the Miners.
