Jr Miners Sweep Bulldogs in 1st Round

The Junior Miners will now face the Pictou County Scotians in the Sid Rowe Division final of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League. The Scotians eliminated the Strait Pirates on Sunday, winning that best-of-seven series, 4-1.
For Glace Bay, Mark Gouthro scored twice and added an assist. Gouthro put the game and the series on ice with an empty-net goal with 13 seconds to go. Brendan MacLean scored and added an assist, while Harry LeVatte and Andrew MacPhee added singles.
In goal, Nick Walsh was busy making 21 saves in the win.
The Junior Miners also posted a convincing 8-3 victory over Antigonish on Saturday at the Bayplex in Glace Bay. Patrick Byrne led the victors with two goals.
