Drake makes 28 saves as Miners beat Blues; Eagles and Pirates fall in NSJHL action

Miners pick up two road wins in Springhill

Kaine Drake turned aside 28 of 29 shots to backstop the Kameron Jr. Miners to a 4-1 win over the Cumberland County Blues in Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League action at the Dr. Carson and Marion Community Centre on Friday.

Offensively, the Miners received contributions from Michael Penny, Brandon Grant, Daniel Reid and Tytan Donovan.

Brody Deegan had the lone goal for the Blues.

Zack Parris made 40 saves in the loss for Cumberland County.

In East Hants, Chris Lanthier and Dylan Evans both scored a pair of goals as the East Hants Penguins downed the Eskasoni Eagles 7-5 at the East Hants Sportsplex.

Adam Perruzza, Evan McHenry and Connor Goodick also found the back of the net for the Penguins.

Trent Reardon scored twice while Ben Gillis, Paul Denny, and Nicholas MacGillivary also notched goals for the Eskasoni club.

Jaiden Debruyn made 27 saves in the victory for East Hants.

Evan Jardine made 23 saves before being replaced by Alexander Denny, who stopped nine of 12 shots in his 25 minutes of relief. Denny was tagged with the loss.

In Port Hawkesbury, the Strait Pirates fell 5-4 to the Valley Maple Leafs at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre.
