Miners, Pirates post wins in junior ‘B’ action

The Kameron Jr. Miners and Strait Pirates picked up wins in Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League action over the weekend.
On Saturday, the Kameron Jr. Miners posted a 5-4 overtime victory over the Liverpool Privateers in Liverpool.
Blake Cox scored the overtime winner for the Miners, while Josh MacKay netted a pair of goals. Michael Penny and Ryan Chisholm chipped in with single markers.
Matt Ormon, Connor Barnhill, Dylan Crews and Kayden Nickerson replied with goals for the Privateers.
Kaine Drake made 23 saves for the Miners. Keaghan Larade stopped 39 of 43 shots for Liverpool.
On Friday, Josh Foster and Jason Johnson found the back of the net twice to lead the Strait Pirates to a 7-1 win over the Brookfield Elks at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre.
Olan Spears, Jacob Keagan and Hunter Woodland also found the score sheet for the Pirates.
Connor Miller had the lone goal for the Elks.
Peter Kopf made 26 saves for Strait. Austin Shields stopped 43 of 50 shots for Brookfield.
Strait and the Eskasoni Eagles were in action Sunday afternoon, however, the score result was not available at press time. Kameron and East Hants also played Sunday afternoon in East Hants. The score was not available at press time.
