Kameron Jr. Miners take over 1st place in NSJHL

2019-11-03

Jr. Miners 10-1-1

The Kameron Jr. Miners are off and running to open their 2019-2020 campaign. The Junior Miners ( 10-1-1) are undefeated in regulation since their opening night loss to the Strait Pirates on September 21st in Membertou.

“Our coaching staff is very pleased with how our players have bought into the team first aspect and the commitment each player has made to our hockey club" said Jr. Miners Head Coach Ryan Boutilier.

Although the hockey club is gifted with offensive talent (Mitchell Johnson (9G-13A-22points) , Daniel Reid (10G-11A-21points) Dylan Morley (9G-10A-19points), Brandon Farrell (3G-14A-17points),Josh MacKay (6G-9A-15points ) Boutilier noted the key to success early in the season has been the ability to have all  players low in the defensive zone, eliminating time and space for opposing team.

" There is no secret that this club can put the puck in the net, saying that, being offensively gifted does not always win close hockey games" said Boutilier "The league has so much parity that you have to be able to win one goal games and I think we have proved that on a consistent basis early in the season.

The Jr. Miners will next see action next Saturday evening when 1st place is on the line when they face the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League defending champions Sackville Blazers ( 9-0-2)

Game time is at 7:30pm at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Center.
