The Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League’s Board of Governors met Sunday afternoon and following a lengthy discussion have agreed to resume play without fans and will reassess their decision again on February 7th when the government comes forth with information at that time as to whether fans might be allowed into respective arenas. It was a tough decision for teams as fans are a large contingent of revenue after sponsorship. However it will only be with 11 teams as the Cumberland County Blues were forced to ask for a leave of absence for the remainder of the season due to so many of their players coming from New Brunswick and of course not being allowed to cross the provincial border at the present time.
For the time being, at least 55 games are scheduled for make-up but the season will resume Monday night in Sackville between arch-rivals the 3-2-1 East Hants Penguins and the 4-1-0 Sackville Blazers. On Wednesday night in Eskasoni, the 5-1-2 Jr. Miners will clash with the 2-5-1 Jr. Eagles. Friday night, the 6-1-0 Liverpool Privateers will begin a weekend home and home with the Cole Harbour Colts. Five other games are scheduled for this weekend with the Pictou County Scotians visiting Port Hawkesbury and East Hants playing at home to the Valley Maple Leafs. The Leafs then go to Brookfield Saturday afternoon and Pictou visits the Jr. Miners Saturday evening before returning home Sunday evening to play the 6-0-0 Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs.
