MINERS UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT

Years ago when the Glace Bay Miners Forum was in operation the hundreds of loyal hockey supporters attended Junior Hockey games as our home town teams competed for hockey titles. Over time junior hockey in Cape Breton diminished down to one team representing the Cape Breton metro area. In recent years the local junior team struggled to ice a competitive team and attract enough fans to support their team. During this past week the  NS Junior B Hockey League officials approved a new application from an ambitious hockey contingent here in Glace Bay that would revive junior hockey in the Bay... the organizers who took this risk are predicting that the once hotbed for junior hockey can be revived here in Glace Bay and that the community will rally to support a winning team once again!. 

The Glace Bay Junior Miners, under the new ownership of Sonny MacDougall and Jordan Evasuk-MacDonald from our very own Association.

The team contains many alumni from Glace Bay Minor Hockey Association and is coached by Ryan Joe MacKenzie, a former player and coach from our Association.  

A spokesman for the team has requested that our association come out and support the former association coaches and players as they strive to re-establish Junior Hockey here in Glace Bay...especially being named the GLACE BAY MINERS !!!
