Miners Sink the Pirate Ship

On a night of reflection and honor for Johnny Carabin and his family, the Glace Bay Miners skated to a 2-0 shutout victory over the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates.
The Miners scored the only goal of the first period when Mitch Carabin finished with Jon McDonough and Adam Cadegan.
Glace Bay held the advantage on the shot clock at 13-8.
Both teams played a scoreless second period.
In the third the Miners went up 2-0 on Eugene Fraser’s power play goal at 13:02. Jonathan McKinnon made 20 saves to record the shutout for the Miners.
The Miners and Pirates renew acquaintances this upcoming Friday Night as Glace Bay heads across the Island for Round 2 of the Battle of Cape Breton.
