Tough "Turkey Leg" Weekend for Miners

At the Bay Plex in Glace Bay the Pictou County Scotians upset the Glace Bay Junior Miners 5-3.

Randy Henley opened the scoring for the Scotians just three minutes eighteen seconds in from Cole Anderson and Brett Mosher. Before the end of the period the Miners would add two power play goals by Jordan Langlois to take a 2-1 lead after twenty minutes. Brett McCarron assisted both goals. Ryan MacDougall also picked up an assist.

In the second Kenny MacInnis gave the Miners a 3-1 lead, an even-strength goal, from RJ Barrett and Corey Langlois. With just under seven minutes left in the period Chase Kirkendall finished with Ric Doyle and Henley to get to within one. Three and a half minutes later Pictou's Julien Perrotta tied the game at three from Brett Mosher.

After forty minutes the Scotians held a commanding 40-20 shot advantage.

In the third the Scotians added two unanswered goals to seal the win and get to within three points of Glace Bay for the last play-off spot in the Sid Rowe Division. Kirkendall fired his second of the night and captain Ric Doyle added an insurance marker. Brett Mosher with two, Cole Anderson and Kirkendall drew the assists. For Kirkendall it was his third point of the night but it was Brett Mosher who led the way for the Scotians with four assists.
