2011-01-20

A big weekend lies ahead of the Glace Bay Jr. Miners which could bump them up to third place. First, the Miners take on the Antigonish Bulldogs (8-15-0-3-1) Friday night at the Antigonish Arena with the game starting at 7:30pm.

A big weekend lies ahead of the Glace Bay Jr. Miners which could bump them up to third place. First, the Miners take on the Antigonish Bulldogs (8-15-0-3-1) Friday night at the Antigonish Arena with the game starting at 7:30pm. Glace Bay sits only 4 Points behind the Bulldogs and a win this Friday would put them only 2 points behind with the Bulldogs up on the Miners by three games, this could be a determining game which will show whether or not the Miners have a chance to battle for third place in the Sid Rowe Division as the Pictou County Scotians sit only 1 point behind the Miners, it’s a must win game.

But the Miners have quite a long-haul ahead having to travel home Friday night and be back on the ice the next night against the Cumberland County Blues (16-5-0-2-1) at the Bayplex starting at 8:00pm. The last time these two clubs met was December 12th, 2010. Cumberland County took a 7-2 win over the Glace Bay Jr. Miners (6-14-0-2-2), but the week before Glace Bay took an upsetting win over the Blues 7-5. The next night the Miners will meet up with Cumberland County again in a rare Sunday match-up at the Bayplex at 5:30pm.

Glace Bay Jr. Miners will be looking to pick up a couple of big wins this weekend, but a bigger thing they are trying to accomplish is getting their first win in 2011. The Miners are looking to be led by leading scorer Jordan Langlois who has 4 points (3 goals, 1 assist) in his last 3 games with the Miners. The Miners have quite a challenge ahead of them though with David Burke of the Cumberland County Blues coming to town. The league leader in points and assists comes to town with the Blues to try to get back into first place in the Sid Row Division.

Come out, catch some exciting Nova Scotia Jr. B Hockey League and support your Glace Bay Jr. Miners!
