The Glace Bay Jr. Miners come off a tough weekend of three games in three nights. The Miners take to the ice Saturday to battle within The Sid Rowe Division against off Island rivals Antigonish Bulldogs for a game set for 7:45 pm at the Bayplex in Glace Bay.
The Glace Bay Jr. Miners (7-16-0-2) have a lot of work to do within the remainder of the season and it began last weekend when they faced the Bulldogs last Friday in Antigonish and skated to a 4-3 win being led by Jordan Langlois and Brett Mccarron who had a goal and an assist each and although the Miners lost the following two nights to the Cumberland County Blues, the Miners showed lots of work ethic with a short bench Saturday night and Sunday missing some key players, coming out in each contest with 2-0 leads in the first period only to be diminished by the Blues.
The Miners will be missing a key forward for the contest against the Bulldogs; Corey Langlois was hit into the boards in the Sunday game against the Blues and is listed with a lower body injury which is keeping him out of the line-up. Langlois is fourth on the team in points with 21 (9 goals, 12 assists) in 24 games and leads the team in penalty minutes with a total of 95. A Miner who was missing in the back to back games against the Blues was assistant captain Brett McCarron who was out with an upper body injury is expected to be back in the line-up for Saturday’s game. Also Daniel Brown who has only played 5 games (5 points) with the Miners this season is back in the line-up after fully recovering from the disabled list.
They say that history sometimes repeats itself and the Miners look to take home a big win this weekend just as they did last weekend against the Bulldogs (9-16-0-3) who only sit 4 points ahead of the Miners and playing two games more than the Miners. The Miners look to Jordan Langlois who sits 15th in NSJHL scoring with 31 points (15 goals, 16 assists) in 24 games to lead the way offensively for the Miners just as he did the past Friday. This is a very key game for the Miners and they will be playing harder than ever to get the win, so come out and support you Glace Bay Jr. Miners!
