Glace Bay, NS, August 11, 2011 - The Glace Bay Junior Miners have acquired Kevin Cormier from the Cumberland Blues in exchange for future considerations, the team announced Thursday.

Cormier, a 19 year-old 6'0, 215 lbs defenseman from Sydney, split last season with the Pictou Jr. A Crushers (MHL) and the Cumberland County Blues of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League. With the Crushers, he posted 4 pts in 23 games while collecting 71 penalty minutes while with the Blues he tallied 3 goals, 6 assists for 9 points with 36 penalty minutes in 15 games. His Junior A rights belong to Summerside Western Capitals after being dealt from Pictou at the 2011 Entry Draft.

"Adding Kevin really solidifies our blue line," said Jordan Evasuk-MacDonald, General Manager of the Junior Miners. "He is a physical defenseman with a great work ethic who makes his presense known and also has some Junior A experience which will help in the development of our younger players." Evasuk-MacDonald said. "For us to add Kevin and Taite Paul in the past few weeks it really strengthens our team and gives us that much more depth overall."
