The regular season begins for the Miners this Saturday in Sackville. The Miners hit the road this weekend for their opening game versus the Blazers Saturday night at 7:30 pm at Sackville Arena before facing the Eastern Shore Junior Mariners at the Eastern Shore Community Centre for a 12:30 pm start.

In goal this season the Miners will see two brand new faces between the pipes. Both goalies attended Bridgewater Lumberjacks Jr. A training camp and were the last two goalies released. Also on the roster is high school grad Jordan Giao (Memorial Marauders).

Leading the way on the blueline will be returning veterans Brett Simmons and Scott Sampson. Rounding out the defense are summer additions Kevin Cormier (Cumberland Blues) and Taite Paul (Miramichi Timberwolves) along with rookies Robert Sampson and Kevin Nicholson. Keigan MacLean has some experience in the league while dressing for Strait Pirates last season.

The Miners will be relying upon returning veterans Brett McCarron, Jordan Langlois, Eugene Fraser, RJ Barrett, Ryan MacDougall and Liam MacDonnell to provide the offense. Rookies up front include Major Midget graduate Kyran Fogarty (Cape Breton Tradesmen) along with High School players Alex MacDonald (Sydney Academy), Cal McNeil (Glace Bay Panthers), Colton Abraham (Sydney Academy), Sean Ferguson (Riverview Redmen), Jesse MacLennan (Memorial Marauders) and Aaron Gouthro (Glace Bay Panthers).

Veteran forward Cory Langlois is out of the line-up 3-4 weeks with an upper body injury and will look to make an impact upon his arrival.

The Miners will be returning 9 players, 3 players with Jr. A experience while  breaking in 11 rookies.

The Mines home opener is next Saturday, October 1st at 7:30 pm at the Bayplex against the Bay Ducks. Come out and cheer on your boys!!!
