Eastern Shore Mariners Handle Glace Bay Junior Miners Sunday Afternoon

Musquodoboit Harbour, NS. September 25, 2011. In a rare early Sunday afternoon contest, in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League, the Eastern Shore Mariners handed the Glace Bay Junior Miners their second loss of the early season with a 7-4 win at the Eastern Shore Community Centre in Musquodoboit Harbour.

In a rare early Sunday afternoon contest, in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League, the Eastern Shore Mariners handed the Glace Bay Junior Miners their second loss of the early season with a 7-4 win at the Eastern Shore Community Centre in Musquodoboit Harbour.

The Mariners led 2-1 after one on goals by Tyler Somers and captain Ryan Morris. Craig Ferguson, Dominick Howell and Tim Mannette all chipped in with the assists.
 

 

Colton Abraham replied for Glace Bay as both teams were dead even at 10 shots apiece after one.
 

 

In the second the Mariners jumped into a 6-2 lead after two on goals by Tim Mannette, Ryan Morris, his second of the afternoon, Brett Baker and Matt Sampson. Mannette also added a pair of assists.
 

 

Ryan MacDougall had Glace Bay’s only goal of the period, an unassisted marker.
 

 

Eastern Shore held a 20-11 shot advantage for a 2-period total of 30-21.
 

 

Glace Bay managed two more in the third on goals by Sean Ferguson and captain Brett McCarron. Tim Mannette fired his second of the game and fifth point of the afternoon to round out the scoring for the Mariners.
 

 

Luke Zareski picked up the win for the Mariners while Keith Boone was tagged with the loss.
 

 

Final shots favoured Glace Bay 40-37.
