Miners Extend Winning Streak To Three Games

At the Bay Plex in Glace Bay Saturday night the hometown Glace Bay Junior Miners picked up their third straight win to improve to 4-10-1-1. The teams played a scoreless first period with the Junior Miners holding a 12-7 shot clock advantage.

Less than a minute into the second Evan Wright gave the Pirates a 1-0 lead from Keenan Lima and David Greencorn. Four minutes later Jordan Langlois had Glace Bay tied at one from Kenny Routledge and Brett Simmons. The Pirates’ Dale MacIntosh restored the lead and the Pirates took a 2-1 lead to the dressing room, with an unassisted tally.

The Pirates held a slim 10-9 shot advantage.

In the third Glace Bay fired two unanswered goals to hold on and take the 3-2 win. Sam Johnson and captain Brett McCarron handled the scoring with the Pirates out shooting the home team 28-24.

Scott MacDonald picked up his third win of the season while Matt Schlotzhauer was tagged with the loss. This was he first meeting, of the two Cape Breton teams, who will meet again on December 2nd in Port Hawkesbury.
