Junior Miners Dominate Dogs

2011-12-10

Saturday Night marked a first in League history as the Junior Miners had three players (Cal McNeil, Kyran Fogarty and Sean Ferguson) record hat tricks.

At the Bay Plex in Glace Bay the Glace Bay Junior Miners destroyed a short-staffed Antigonish Bulldog team 11-2 in the second end of a home-and-home series.

Friday night the Junior Miners took a 7-4 win in Antigonish. The Miners, showing a big improvement lately, have won six out of their last seven games to get a little breathing room for third place in the Sid Rowe Division.

Kyran Fogarty, Cal MacNeil and Sean Ferguson all had a hat trick for the Junior Miners with singles going to RJ Barrett and Alex MacDonald. Chris Ross and Colton Abraham both picked up three assists. Steven MacGillivray and Dave McCarthy managed the goals for Antigonish.

The Miners led 2-1 after one; 7-1 after two and added four in the third.

Scott MacDonald picked up the win for Glace Bay while Bryce Knott was tagged with the loss. Final shots were 66-31 Glace Bay.

Antigonish continue to struggle having six regulars under suspension as a result of a nasty affair with the Brookfield Elks on November 27. Suspensions ranged from two to five games. Despite all the Bulldogs continue to hold down first place in the Sid Rowe Division but have the Strait Pirates breathing down their neck just two points behind.
