Glace Bay Sports Heritage Calendar

The Glace Bay Sports Heritage Society will be releasing a unique 2012 sports calendar in time for Christmas giving. The historical calendar is believed to be the first of its kind in the region, which depicts a sports legacy theme.
The following championship teams are featured in black and white on a 12-month, 11x17 calendar:
1932/1933 Caledonia Rugby Teams
1952 No. 11 Antonians Junior Baseball Team
1955-1956 Glace Bay “Cinderella” Miners Junior Hockey Team
1961 Caledonia Aces Senior Softball Team
1962 Parkside A.C. Senior Softball Team
1965 McKay’s Corner Coriano Intermediate Softball Team
1966 Glace Bay Little League Section One All-Stars Baseball Team
1968 Oland’s Bay Byes Senior Softball Team
1971 Glace Bay Junior Miners Baseball Team
1971-1972 Glace Bay-Sydney Metro Bees Junior Hockey Team
1987 Glace Bay Kentucky Fried Colonels Little League Baseball Team
1994 Glace Bay Labatt Main Event Junior Blues Fastball Team
The 12 nostalgic snapshots are certain to evoke memories and discussion of the teams and their players captured in time.
The 2012 sports calendar will appeal to the players and their families, both near and far, as well as to fans and collectors. This premier edition, which records some of Glace Bay’s sports accomplishments, is only $10.00. The profits raised will go to charitable organizations, athletic scholarships, or sports-related activities.
It is only through the generosity of the 12 sponsors has this sports project been chronicled for others to enjoy.
The Sports Heritage Society is a registered, non-profit organization made up of volunteers who are committed to sports tradition. The committee making up the Sports Heritage Society are Barry Verbeski, Chris Burke, Joe ‘Gobbler’ MacDonald, Kent Verbeski, Cecil MacQueen, Rudy MacDougall, and Jordan Evasuk-MacDonald.
