2012-01-04

Glace Bay, NS, January 4, 2012 - The Glace Bay Junior Miners have signed forward Colin MacKinnon, the team announced late Wednesday.

MacKinnon, who resides in Sydney River, spent the last two seasons with the Truro Bearcats of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League (MHL).  During MacKinnon's duration with the Bearcats he posted 19 goals, 27 assists for 46 points in 73 games while also having 65 penalty minutes. He also has some experience in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League when he suited up with the Montreal Juniors for 3 games during the 2008-2009 season.

"Colin is a big strong player with great hands and touch around the net", said Miners General Manager Jordan Evasuk-MacDonald. "He's a great addition to our hockey club. He’s a gifted offensive player who will step in our line-up and make an immediate impact." added Evasuk-MacDonald.

MacKinnon will be in the lineup this weekend when the Junior Miners take to the road Friday against the Cumberland Blues in Springhill and will make his home debut this Saturday when the Sackville Blazers come to Glace Bay for a 7:30 pm start at the BayPlex.
