Pirates Defeat Miners

At the BayPlex in Glace Bay the Strait Pirates continued their luck of the Glace Bay Junior Miners with a 4-3 win.

Scoring for the Pirates were Nick Allard, Bryson Landry, Jeremy Sheppard and Randy Henley. Scoring for Glace Bay were Brett Simmons, Jordan Langlois and Corey Langlois.

Glace Bay led 2-1 after twenty minutes on goals by Brett Simmons and Jordan Langlois. Nick Allard opened for the Pirates who out shot the home team 16-14.

The teams played a scoreless second period with the Jr. Miners holding a slim 15-14 advantage. In the third the Pirates fired a pair to take the lead at 3-2. Bryson Landry and Jeremy Sheppard with his 24th on the year.
 
The Junior Miners managed to get on within one when Corey Langlois scored with just under 8 minutes to play. Then with just over two minutes remaining Randy Henley potted the winner to give the Pirates their 22nd win of the season and a claim of first place in the Sid Rowe Division as they now are 7 points up on the Antigonish Bulldogs with only 3 games each remaining.

Brennan Laite picked up his 20th win, tops in the league, while Scott MacDonald was tagged with the loss.
