Junior Miners vs Bulldogs Cancelled Due To Severe Snowstorm
2012-02-18February 19, 2012. After an urgent executive meeting this evening it has been decided that the postponed regular season game scheduled for Saturday night in Glace Bay between the Antigonish Bulldogs and Glace Bay Jr. Miners will not have to be played.
This February 18th game was postponed due to a heavy snowstorm in northern Nova Scotia and Cape Breton. A spokesperson for the league cited several factors led to this decision. First and foremost was the availability of ice and secondly the necessity to have this series wrapped up prior to March 7, 2012 were the prime concerns. Glace Bay Junior Miners General Manager Jordan Evasuk-MacDonald stated he had tried to find ice at eight different rinks in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality but to no avail within a reasonable time.
It was equally noted that this game had no impact on league standings or statistics but had the potential to cause undue hardship on both teams trying to fit this series in the time available.
In the Sid Rowe Division the Strait Pirates finished in top spot followed by Antigonish, Glace Bay and Cumberland County. The Glace Bay Junior Miners will open against the Antigonish Bulldogs in Antigonish on Wednesday February 22, 2012.
