Junior Miners Spoil Scotians Opener With Decisive Win

The Pictou County Scotians had their home opener spoiled, by the Glace Bay Jr. Miners, as the Miners rolled to an easy 11-2 win in Trenton.
Ryan Bursey and Jordan Langlois each led the Miners with 2 goals and 2 assists. Also picking up a pair of goals was Eugene Fraser while Sean Ferguson pitched in with a single marker plus 3 assists. Also picking up single goals were Andrew MacPhee, Tyler Pyke, John Walsh and RJ Barrett. Pyke and Walsh also helped their cause with a pair of assists each.
Tim Robertson and Lucas Eshelman managed the goals for Pictou.
The Miners led 1-0 after one despite firing 30 shots at Pictou goaltender Ben Goss; 4-0 after two; then the flood gates opened and the Miners struck for 7 goals.
Jake McKendry picked up his second straight win in the Miner net. Final shots were 67-34 Glace Bay.
The Junior Miners are back in action this Saturday when the Sackville Blazers come to town for a 7:30 pm start.
