Glace Bay Sweeps Season Series Against Ducks

2012-10-28

Saturday night, the Glace Bay Junior Miners doubled the Bay Ducks 4-2 at the St. Margaret’s Centre in Upper Tantallon to take both ends of a home-and-home series having beat the Ducks 3-1 last weekend in Glace Bay.

In Upper Tantallon Jordan Langlois had the visiting Glace Bay Junior Miners on the scoreboard first, on the power play, with Brett Simmons and Sean Ferguson. Less than a minute later Ryan Langille had the Ducks tied at one from Alex Farquhar. The ink was hardly dry when Glace Bay struck again with Mitch MacDougall putting the Miners back on top at 2-1. Ryan Jackson drew the lone assist. Two minutes later Langlois had his second on the night and 11th of the season, an unassisted tally, to give the visitors a 3-1 heading into the first intermission.

Shots were dead even at 8 apiece.

Three and a half minutes into the second period Ryan Langille had the Ducks to within one at 3-2 from Alex Farquhar and Jacob Scott. Then 39 seconds later Sean Ferguson restored the Miners’ 2-goal cushion, an even-strength goal, from RJ Barrett.

Shots in the period favoured the Miners 12-7 for a 2-period total of 20-15.

The teams played a scoreless but chippy third period with the Miners once again holding the advantage on the shot clock at 12-9.

Scott MacDonald picked up his third win for Glace Bay while Alex Mader was tagged with the loss.

Glace Bay now trail the Sid Rowe Divisional leading Strait Pirates by just 2 points as they improve to 7-2-0-0.
