Miners Host Penguins On Veteran Appreciation Night

2012-11-10

GLACE BAY. — When the Glace Bay Junior Miners hit the ice tonight against the East Hants Penguins at the BAYplex, they will be honoring all veterans as part of the third annual Veterans Appreciation Night.

“We are very excited to be a part of a wonderful tribute to these men and women who sacrificed so much for the freedoms we have today,” said Junior Miners general manager Jordan Evasuk-MacDonald.

During this year's Veterans Appreciation Night, which will begin at 7:20 p.m., the Miners will have on hand veterans Jackie Popwell and Donnie Popwell who will drop the ceremonial puck.  A moment of silence will be observed after the national anthem and special thanks will be given to those who have served or are serving our country.

The Junior Miners are coming off an exciting 5-4 shootout win last night in Springhill over the Cumberland Blues which moved the Miners into a tie for first place overall with their cross-island rival Strait Pirates in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League with 19 points. The Miners currently have a game in hand.

Any veteran past or present who is attendance tonight will be admitted free. Regular admission is $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for students and seniors and $3.00 for children under the age of 12.

Come out and support your Miners!!!
