Pirates Shutout Miners

Friday night, the visiting Junior Miners hit the road for all important battle with their cross-island rivals Strait Pirates.
In the 3rd installment of the ‘Battle of Cape Breton’, the hometown Strait Pirates came out on top picking up an all important 1-0 win over the Glace Bay Junior Miners to claw within four points of the front running Miners in the Sid Rowe Division.
Pirates forward #18 Marc Bourgeois scored the only goal of the game in the 2nd period which stood to be the game winner. Luke Jessop was the winning goaltender making 16 saves for the shutout while Miners goaltender #30 Jake McKendry played a stellar game but was tagged with the loss despite making 20 saves.
The Miners look to get back in the win column tomorrow night at the BAYplex as the Antigonish Bulldogs are in town for a 7:30 pm start. Come out and support YOUR Miners!!!
