Junior Miners Clinch NSJHL Regular Season Title
2013-02-03In Glace Bay the Junior Miners slipped by the Strait Pirates 5-3 to lay claim as the top team in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League circuit and will have home ice advantage throughout the playoffs.
At the Bay Plex in Glace Bay the Glace Bay Junior Miners picked up their 22nd win of the season as they downed the Strait Pirates 5-3. Five players supplied the goal scoring punch for the Junior Miners. Tyler Pyke with his 12th; Kyran Forgarty with his 6th; Eugene Fraser with his 3rd; Ryan MacDougall with his 3rd and Sean Ferguson with his 17th all scored for the home team. Ferguson also added 2 assists as did Chris Ross.
Dale MacIntosh, Michel Deveaux and Morgan Timmons replied for the Strait who slip to 16-12-0-2 and remain in third place in the Sid Rowe Division just a point behind the Pictou County Scotians and 14 points behind the Glace Bay Jr. Miners.
The teams were tied at one after one; tied at two after two with the Junior Miners outscoring the Pirates 3-1 in the third.
Final shots were 43-36 Glace Bay.
Miners with the win have assured themselves home ice advantage through out the playoffs
