Miners Re-schedule Game Against Elks

2013-02-07

Due to the forecasted storm of between 35-40 cm of snow scheduled for Nova Scotia on Saturday, the Junior Miners and Brookfield Elks have agreed to re-schedule Saturday's game until Sunday with a 1:30 pm puck drop slated at the BAYPlex.

The Fred Fox leading Brookfield Elks will make their only regular season visit to the BAYplex when they face off against the Sid Rowe and Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League leading Glace Bay Junior Miners this Sunday with a 1:30 pm start.

In the only other meeting between these two teams back on October 13, the Junior Miners defeated the Elks by a score of 3-2. However, both teams have made several key acquisitions since then.

The Miners enter the weekend riding a six game winning streak, while the Elks themselves have won six of their last seven games.

Although playoffs are locked up for both teams, Brookfield is still fighting for position and wants to remain in the top spot in the Fred Fox Division.

The Miners want to keep the win streak alive going into the final weekend before playoffs.

During the 1st intermission, their will be a mini sledge hockey game courtesy of the Cape Breton Sledgehammers. The Cape Breton Sledgehammers will also be having an open ice session on Saturday, February 16th at 11:00 am at Centre 200 for anyone who might be interested in giving the sport a try.

The Miners will also be having a moment of silence prior to puck drop in honor of Wanda McNeil, mother of former Glace Bay Junior Miner, #9 Cal McNeil who passed away earlier this week after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Come out and support YOUR Miners!!!
