Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Announces Award Winners

The Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League announced the winners for the 2012-2013 season.

These awards were arrived by using the following format.  The League Secretary shall be responsible to ensure that each of the participating member team coaches nominate four persons from any team for the following awards: Most Valuable Player; Best Defenseman; Coach of the year; Rookie of the Year; Most Gentleman Player and Executive of the Year. This will be done on completion of the regular league schedule and prior to league playoffs. The Secretary will forward name/team of all nominees to the coaches by memo. Voting on the following awards shall be 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th choice for each place, with a number value placed on each choice. The totals will be added with the higher sum total being declared the winner. Top Scorer and Top Goaltender will be ruled by official league statistics . 

Using the above format the following have been named as this year's winners in the various categories.

Best Defenceman​​ - Brett Simmons - Glace Bay Junior Miners

Coach of the Year​ - ​Kent Verbeski - Glace Bay Miners

Top Scorer​ - Brandon Verge - Pictou Scotians

Top Goaltender​ - Jake McKendry - Glace Bay Junior Miners

Rookie of the Year​ - ​Brad MacEachen - Pictou Scotians

Most Gentlemanly Player​ - Lucas Eshleman - Pictou Scotians

Executive of the Year​ - Glace Bay Junior Miners
