Jr Miners sweep weekend against Blues

The Jr Miners outscored the Cumberland Blues by a total score of 15 - 4 over this past weekend. Tender Scott MacDonald picked up his 2nd shut-out on Saturday with a 6-0 win, he then picked up the win again on Sunday by a score of 9-4.

At the Bay Plex on Saturday night, Jr. Miners’ forward Kyran Fogarty lead the team with a pair of markers to go with an assist while goaltender Scott MacDonald kicked out all 30 Cumberland shots to record his second shutout of the year as the Jr. Miners blanked the Cumberland County Blues 6-0. Sean Ferguson, Drew Wilcox, Ryan Bursey and Mark Gouthro all picked up single markers. Bursey and Chris Ross both picked up a pair of assists.
 The Jr. Miners led 2-0 after one; 3-0 after two then struck for 3 in the third.
 Final shots were 48-30 Glace Bay.

On Sunday, At the Bay Plex Ryan Bursey, with 2 goals and 2 assist plus Tyler Pyke with 2 goals and 1 assist, led the Glace Bay onslaught. Sean Ferguson and Ryan Jackson each picked up a goal and 3 assists while JM Walsh, Chris Ross and Kyran Fogarty rounded out the scoring for Glace Bay. Ross also had 2 assists.

 Call-up Zach Haley, Zac Black, Jesse Colborne and rookie Jesse Magarvey managed the scoring for the Blues who were out-shot 58-24.
 The Jr. Miners led 3-1 after one; 8-3 after two then each team picked up a single in the third.
 Scott MacDonald collected his 4th win of the year while Julian Savoie was tagged with the loss.
 Final shots were 58-24 Glace Bay.
 
The Jr. Miners are now the top team in the league with 23 points and a record of 10-1-2-1. The Jr. Miners have also become the top offensive team having scored 72 goals.

The Miners will travel to Springhill on Friday 15 Nov to once again meet the Blues before they return home to meet the Sackville Blazers on Sat 16 Nov.
