November 23, 2013.  For the 4th time this month the Glace Bay Jr. Miners and Cumberland County Blues donned the gear to do battle with the Jr. Miners winning all 4 games and out-scoring the Blues 27-11. Saturday night, at the Bay Plex in Glace Bay, it was a little tougher as the Jr. Miners needed overtime to nip the Cumberland County Blues 6-5 and increase to 31 points in the Sid Rowe Division.
Glace Bay leading scorer Ryan Bursey broke a 5-5 tie 2 ½ minutes into the overtime period to lift the Jr. Miners past the Cumberland County Blues. Bursey also potted a second period goal to draw the teams at three. Tyler Pyke with a pair plus defensemen John Michael Walsh and Colton Abraham rounded out the Glace Bay scoring. Pyke also chipped in with an assist while Sean Ferguson picked up a pair of assists.

Demitri Anakin, in just his 2nd game in Canada fired a pair of markers for the Blues. The Russian import also scored in his very first NSJHL game in Springhill last night. Jon Tattrie, MacKenzie Young and Jesse Colborne also scored for Cumberland. If not for the work of Blues’ goaltender Jesse Cox Cumberland would have been blown out of the water early. The Jr. Miners fired 48 shots at Cox and many from close range.
The teams were tied at two after one; 4-3 Jr. Miners after two; with the Jr. Miners tying the game at 5 with just under 8 minutes to play.
Jr. Miners goaltender Nich Walsh picked up his 8th win while Jesse Cox was charged with the tough loss.
