Pirate ship sails on BUT Bulldogs become puppies

The Glace Bay Jr Miners 8 win record was put to an end on Fri night in the Strait by a score of 4-3, but got back into the winning ways in a huge 9-2 win at the Emera Centre in North Sydney before a crowd of 450 + fans.

At the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre in Port Hawkesbury the Strait Pirates nipped the Glace Bay Jr. Miners 4-3 in the first of many head-to-head games to come in the Battle of Cape Breton.
David Greencorn led the Pirates with a pair of markers while Bryson Landry and Michel Desveaux added singles. Marc Bourgeois chipped in with a pair of assists. Ryan Bursey, John Michael Walsh and Lincoln Bradley replied for Glace Bay with Brett Simmons picking up a pair of assists for Glace Bay.
The Pirates led 1-0 after one; 3-2 after two with Desveaux breaking a 3-3 tie with just under 8 minutes to play in the game.
Marcus Otmar picked up the win for the Pirates while Scott MacDonald took the loss.
The Pirates still trail the Jr. Miners by 9 points for top spot in the Sid Rowe Division. The Jr. Miners have a game in hand.

At the Emera Centre in North Sydney Tyler Pyke paced the Jr. Miners with a hat trick plus added a helper. Drew Wilcox potted a pair with singles going to Sam Johnson, Ryan Bursey, Ryan Jackson and Kyran Fogarty. Bursey and Sean Ferguson both chipped in with 4 assists apiece.

Andrew Foster had a pair of tallies for Antigonish with Jake Kerr adding a single.
Glace Bay led 2-0 after one; 6-2 after two before adding 3 in the third.
Nick Walsh picked up his 9th win of the year while Antigonish starter Patrick McNamara was tagged with the loss.
Final shots were 40-18 Glace Bay.
