Jr Miners Lock up 1st Place in Sid Rowe

With a pair of wins against the Cumberland Blues this past weekend, the Jr Miners have locked up 1st place in the Sid Rowe Div, giving them home ice advantage through 1st and 2nd round of the playoffs

On Friday night, In Springhill Sean Ferguson led the Glace Bay Jr. Miners to a 5-4 win with three points on a single marker and two helpers. Brett Simmons, JM Walsh, Drew Wilcox and Lincoln Bradley also scored for Glace Bay.
Jesse Colborne with his 18th and 19th as well as Ryan Crowe and Kyle MacDonald answered for Cumberland.
The Jr. Miners led 2-1 after one; 5-3 after two with the Blues adding the only goal in the third.
Nick Walsh picked up his 13th win while Jesse Cox was tagged with the loss.
Final shots were 30-23 Glace Bay.

The again Springhill on Saturday afternoon, the Glace Bay Jr. Miners downed the Cumberland County Blues 3-1.

Mark Gouthro, Brett Simmons and Shawn Neville scored for Glace Bay who now have claimed top spot in the Sid Rowe Division with a 22-3-2-1 record nineteen points better than the Strait Pirates.
Shawn Wright scored the Blues lone goal to open the first period.
The teams were tied at one after one; 2-1 Glace Bay after two with Glace Bay adding the only goal in the third.
Scott MacDonald picked up his 9th win on the year while Jessie Cox took the loss.
Final shots were 47-15 Glace Bay.
