Jr Miners take commanding 3 - 0 lead in Division Finals

Ryan Bursey earned the "Miners Golden Hardhat" in helping his team skate to a 5-1 win and a 3 games - 0 stanglehold over the Strait Pirates in the Sid Rowe Divisional Finals on Friday night in Port Hawkesbury.

At the Civic Centre in Port Hawkesbury the Pirates and Jr. Miners traded first period goals to take a 1-1 tie into the first intermission. First, Tyler MacLeod from Andrew MacPhee had the Jr. Miners on the score clock first then four minutes later Marc Bourgeois knotted the game at one with an unassisted tally.
 
Shots in the period favoured the Jr. Miners 7-6.
 
Despite being outshot 14-13 by the Pirates, after forty minutes, the Jr. Miners fired three unanswered goals in the middle period to take a 4-1 lead into the second intermission. Ryan Bursey with two, one of which was on the power play, and Sam Johnson also on the power play provided the second period offence for the visitors.
 
The Jr. Miners fired the only goal in the third when Mark Gouthro closed out the scoring with an empty netter.
 
Scott MacDonald picked up his second win of the post season while Keagan Butler was tagged with the loss.
  
Game four in this series will be Sunday night in Port Hawkesbury at 7:30 pm.
