March 30, 2014. Sunday afternoon, at the Bay Plex in Glace Bay, overager Jordan Langlois played his biggest game of his career as he scored five goals.

After blowing a second period 4-1 lead on Saturday night the Glace Bay Junior Miners bounced back with the double overtime win Sunday afternoon in front of 500 fans to tie their best-of-seven Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League final at a game apiece with the Sackville Blazers.

Just as they did in the first period last night, the hometown Junior Miners struck for two unanswered goals to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. With just over four minutes to play in the 1st period, Jordan Langlois opened the scoring for Glace Bay when he finished with Sean Ferguson and Tyler Pyke. Then with only 35.6 seconds showing on the clock Langlois, picked up his second of the period, when he wrapped home a Zach Walsh rebound past Sackville goaltender Jonathan Boutin. JM Walsh also picked up an assist.

The Junior Miners also held a healthy 17-9 shot advantage after one period.

In the second, and with the crowd hardly back in their seats, Adam Brown had the Glace Bay lead cut in half at 2-1 when he finished with Blazer team captain Shayne Oderkirk. Two and a half minutes later the defending league champion Sackville Blazers knotted the game at two when Jordan Keizer converted with Brett Arthur and Jarrett Johns.  Six minutes later Glace Bay rookie Shawn Neville restored the Junior Miners lead at 3-2 from Andrew MacPhee and Chris Ross but just twenty seconds later Blazers’ leading scorer Andrew Skinner had the teams even again at three from Shayne Oderkirk. Only a minute later Sackville defenseman Shane Boudreau had the Blazers up 4-3 from Adam Brown and Brett Arthur. Once again the Junior Miners drew the teams even at four when Jordan Langlois struck again from JM Walsh and Glace Bay team captain Brett Simmons while on the power play.

Shots in the period were dead even at 14 apiece for a 2-period total of 31-25 Glace Bay.

In the third Kyle MacDonald broke the 4-4 tie with just 4:26 to play from Braden Kamermans but with just 5.3 seconds showing on the game clock Jordan Langlois knotted the game at five to set the stage for sudden-death overtime.

After sixty minutes of hockey the Jr. Miners held a wide 50-28 margin on the shot clock.

The teams played a scoreless first overtime period before two very tired hockey teams retired to the dressing rooms still tied at five and the Junior Miners unofficially showing a 57-31 shot advantage.

Less than four minutes into double overtime Jordan Langlois potted his 5th of the night to pick up the hard-fought win and get the Junior Miners back in the series which now moves to Lower Sackville next Sunday and Monday. Sean Ferguson and JM Walsh both picked up the assists. For Walsh his three assists improves his scoring lead to 19 points.

Nick Walsh, who replaced starter Scott MacDonald halfway through the second period, picked up the win while Jonathan Boutin suffered the tough loss facing 57 shots.
