Miners wrangle up the Colts to Open Season

The 2014 / 15 Season opened on the road Friday night with the Jr. Miners allowing the Colts out of the gate first, then throwing a lassoo to wrangle them back in.

The Jr Miners travelled to Cole Harbour on Friday night to face off against the Colts, the former Eastern Shore Mariners.
With 1:13 remaining in the first period, Josh Rector put the Colts on the board first and jumped to a 1-0 lead, shots in the period favoured the 6-4.
The 2nd period had the score remaining the same at 1-0 and had the Colts again with a slight edge in shots 5-4.
In the 3rd, the miners had finally shaken off the road rust and would score 6 times.  Rookie Harry Levatte scoring 2 goals, Drew Wilcox with 2 goals, and 1 each by Ryan Bursey and rookie Tristan Unsworth.  The Colts replied with 1 goal by J. Tibert.
Nick Walsh picked up his first win of the year in goal while his brother John Micheal chipped in with 2 assists.

The Miners travel the road to Liverpool tonight to face off against the Privateers (formerly the Bay Ducks).  you can follow the action at:

Final shots in the game were 19-14 in favour of the Miners.
